Roger trained at Edward Thomas Peirson & Sons in Market Harborough before working at Hartwell & Co, followed by Chancery, as a partner. He started Essendon Accounts & Tax with Helen Beaumont in 2014.
Roger loves ‘getting his hands dirty’, working with emerging, small-to-medium and family businesses to ensure they receive the best possible accountancy advice.
Using an extensive network of business contacts to leverage the best guidance and practical solutions, he has been called a Business Godparent due to his caring, hands-on approach.
Roger loves walking his dog and, during the holidays, enjoys taking time out on his boat which he has moored on the Isle of Wight. In the future he has aspirations to retire on a luxury motor yacht and sail off into the sunset.

Steve qualified in 2002 with a top 20 national firm, before heading in to London to manage the audit and accounts department for a 7 partner firm. For the last 5 years Steve has moved back in to general practice working with OMB’s and family businesses on all aspects of their finances, from payroll, VAT, bookkeeping, accounts, corporate and personal taxes.
Steve brings with him an all-round wealth of knowledge which enables him to assist, advice and work closely with clients to maximise their goals and potential.
When not in the office, Steve can be found on the golf course, normally in the rough, and he also enjoys cooking and reading.
Matthew trained with Roger during the Hartwell & Co days and has followed Roger through his career to Essendon Accounts & Tax. Matthew prides himself on understanding his clients’ needs and has a great deal of experience with a range of different sizes and types of businesses.
When not in the office, Matthew can sometimes be found on the golf course working on his swing or improving his cooking skills in the kitchen.
Gemma is ATT (Association of Taxation Technicians) qualified, and worked at Chancery for 10 years before joining Essendon as the Tax Compliance Team Leader. Gemma has now taken on the role as practice manager for Essendon. Her day to day duties include assisting clients to ensure they pay the correct amount of tax and meet their filing deadlines, organising the practice and the rest of the team.
In Gemma’s spare time she enjoys travelling, going to the cinema, and claims she is a fair-weather cyclist.
After several years working in communication and marketing, Victoria made the decision to change careers and enter into the world of accountancy.
She is currently studying towards becoming an ACCA-qualified accountant and is part of the accounts team, assisting with accounts preparation, CIS returns, VAT returns, personal tax returns and anything else that she can help with.
When Victoria isn’t studying or working, she has a young son that keeps her busy, but finds time to enjoys playing netball, running and socialising with friends and family.
Victoria also plays the accordion, having been UK Solo Accordion Champion three times; she plays in a barn dance band and giving talks about the instrument to local groups.
Hannah is currently studying towards her AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification, and is part of the Accounts team at Essendon.

Jake is currently studying towards his AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification, and is part of the Accounts team at Essendon.
He undertakes tasks such as bookkeeping, VAT returns, accounts preparation Construction Industry Scheme returns and heads up the payroll team.
In his spare time, Jake plays for local football teams in Milton Keynes at the weekend. He enjoys the gym and often goes to the cinema to catch the latest films.
Starting her career with National Westminster Bank, Paula joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office then moved into software development and IT project management.
Having joined Essendon Accounts & Tax, Paula is responsible for providing administrative and project management support to the team.
In her spare time Paula enjoys walking her dog, loves gardening and has a passion for cookery and handicrafts.
