Roger trained at Edward Thomas Peirson & Sons in Market Harborough before working at Hartwell & Co, followed by Chancery, as a partner. He started Essendon Accounts & Tax with Helen Beaumont in 2014.
Roger loves ‘getting his hands dirty’, working with emerging, small-to-medium and family businesses to ensure they receive the best possible accountancy advice.
Using an extensive network of business contacts to leverage the best guidance and practical solutions, he has been called a Business Godparent due to his caring, hands-on approach.
Roger loves walking his dog and, during the holidays, enjoys taking time out on his boat which he has moored on the Isle of Wight. In the future he has aspirations to retire on a luxury motor yacht and sail off into the sunset.
Starting her career with National Westminster Bank, Paula joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office then moved into software development and IT project management.
Having joined Essendon Accounts & Tax, Paula is responsible for providing administrative and project management support to the team.
In her spare time Paula enjoys walking her dog, loves gardening and has a passion for cookery and handicrafts.
Matthew trained with Roger during the Hartwell & Co days and has followed Roger through his career to Essendon Accounts & Tax. Matthew prides himself on understanding his clients’ needs and has a great deal of experience with a range of different sizes and types of businesses.
When not in the office, Matthew can sometimes be found on the golf course working on his swing or improving his cooking skills in the kitchen.
Emma completed a Psychology Degree at University of Bristol before deciding on accountancy as a career. In 2000, she started ACA training at one of the top 50 firms, gaining audit and accounting experience. She then moved to a smaller concern to focus specifically on accountancy for small and medium sized owner managed businesses.
When Emma’s not slaving over columns of figures, though, you’ll either find her trundling across Europe in the family campervan, or cooking up a treat to entertain some friends. She’s also Treasurer for her local scout group, so let’s all say, ‘Dyb, dyb, dyb’ to Emma!
Gemma is ATT (Association of Taxation Technicians) qualified, and worked at Chancery for 10 years before joining Essendon as the Tax Compliance Team Leader. Gemma has now taken on the role as practice manager for Essendon. Her day to day duties include assisting clients to ensure they pay the correct amount of tax and meet their filing deadlines, organising the practice and the rest of the team.
In Gemma’s spare time she enjoys travelling, going to the cinema, and claims she is a fair-weather cyclist.
Jake is currently studying towards his AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification, and is part of the Accounts team at Essendon.
He undertakes tasks such as bookkeeping, VAT returns, accounts preparation, Construction Industry Scheme returns and heads up the payroll team.
In his spare time, Jake plays for local football teams in Milton Keynes at the weekend. He enjoys the gym and often goes to the cinema to catch the latest films.
Phil is AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualified and is now studying towards his ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) qualification.
His main focus at Essendon is client bookkeeping, VAT returns, preparing accounts, and completing Construction Industry Scheme returns. However this will broaden as his studies progress and he qualifies in the near future.
In his spare time, Phil enjoys playing football and loves a bit of travel, but he also has a passion for raising money for charity. Not only does he work closely with the East of England Air Ambulance, a charity he holds dear to his heart, but he also recently completed the London to Brighton Cycle for Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
Kimberly is currently studying towards her final exam for the Level 4 AAT Professional Diploma and is part of the accounts team at Essendon.
Kimberly’s main duties at Essendon are accounts preparation, payroll processing and carrying out bookkeeping duties.
In her spare time, she enjoys her studies and spending time with the people that mean the most to her.
Holly started at Essendon in March 2019, having already gained nearly three years’ experience at another accounts practice. She stepped on to the first rung of the accounting ladder at college, kicking things off with the AAT course and gaining Level 2 and Level 3 whilst she was there. It was then she moved to her first position and studied for the final level of AAT whilst working.
On a day-to-day basis, Holly’s role includes bookkeeping, VAT returns, and preparing the paperwork for client accounts. So when you send in those bags of receipts and bank statements, it’s Holly who may well have the joy of digging through them.
When Holly’s not wading through piles of invoices, she’ll usually be found at the stables, mucking out, grooming, and polishing tack. You might even catch her out on her horse too; particularly in the summer, when she’s a regular attendee at local show jumping events, cross country gatherings, and sponsored rides.
Ashley has been a qualified bookkeeper (AAT Level 3) since 2014, and has significant experience of working with small and medium sized enterprises. She slots brilliantly into the Essendon clan because her practical experience has been gained working in industries such as media, IT, property, retail and eCommerce.
When she’s not poring over receipts, Ashley loves travelling, eating out, and cuddling her dog, Alfie!
Justine worked in the packaging industry for 20 years resulting in an interest in production costs and the pursuit of the AAT Diploma. Since qualifying she has used her book keeping skills for a variety of SME’s while working in practice.
In her spare time Justine makes a mean flapjack and enjoys wearing herself out at a variety of gym classes. She dreams of one day retiring to a log cabin in the wilds of Montana surrounded by nature.
